Tapaton 2017: Helping Kids with Autism in Playa del Carmen

Kodomo Autismo Playa del Carmen is a wonderful local organization doing incredible work in our community to help support families with children diagnosed or with a suspected diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. The organization is currently hosting its annual Tapatón fundraiser to raise money to provide therapeutic intervention and treatment options for kids with autism spectrum disorder, and you can help support their mission.

All you need to do is save your plastic caps (tapa is the Spanish word for cap) from soda bottles, water bottles, and garrafones, which are the large reusable water containers that are delivered to homes and businesses, and bring them to the Kodomo Center located in the Ejidal area of Playa del Carmen. If you can’t make it to the center to drop off your caps, there will also be collection points set up at hotels, restaurants, and shops throughout the city.

The caps will be collected and sold to a recycling facility to raise funds so that the organization can continue to provide care and scholarships to kids with autism spectrum disorder. Donating your caps is an easy way for you to help make a big difference in the lives of families and children struggling with a diagnosis or suspected diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.

Kodomo Autismo Playa del Carmen is the first organization in the Playa del Carmen area dedicated to helping families with children diagnosed or with a suspected diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. It was founded by Gabriel Mendicuti and his wife Damarys Menes to help their son Manuel and the many families like them who are faced with the challenge of finding the best therapeutic intervention and treatment options for their children.
